10 leaves - 2 palms

Ten leaves – Two palms

(E.M.)

This is a measure of mankind? This inspired the man to understand?

I used this to shift plastic out of leather wallet into the other hand,

Stain paper with purple ink and pass it to a crush, underhand

Grasp chalk and explain the reason I stole from another man

To wear a glove that I continually punched with my other hand

Yet, this is what killed Able? This is what built empires?

This is what connects cable, showing atrocities, built land-mines,

Grasps a screaming victim, and help drink them as Vampire,

Makes shapes appear in the wall shadows at bed-time,

Makes glass and light weapon, is it not why the ants hide

But, this is what molds history? This protects from face-plant?

This is what holds sympathy and throws away love with a certain grace, and

Emphasizes what one speaks “…to be, or not to be?” or “…let them have cake, then”

Brought together the Nile and the forsaken even though Egypt is sacred

And finally brings pleasure to the walls that will then spew life naked

Damned Everest...this is powerful stuff! I like your imagery and the depth of your thinking...and only at 22 years old...don't ever be discouraged and quit writing.

Poetry comes nearer to vital truth than history.

Plato (BC 427-BC 347) Greek philosopher.
