Poem Commentary

A photograph, a mirror and a mother who died unexpectedly when I was seventeen. So my poetry is introspective, given the circumstances what do you expect?

19th May Blues

I've been looking
Into innocent eyes
Blue eyes
Blue
Why aways
So blue
And they looked
Back at me
Straight back
At me
Or was it
Straight through

I once had
Those innocent eyes
Blue eyes
Blue
Why always
So blue
Now I look
Back at them
Straight back
At them
Or is it
Straight through

Tunnels of color and light that allow loving spirit to be transmitted easily between dimensions of space and time upon this close inspection of true heartfelt reflections...of love.

The eyes have it! I really like the idea of both looking/seeing and being looked at/seen. Insightful, pun intended.

Eyes do more than see, especially when themselves are seen.

Drew, This is a mesmerizing write. Whenever eyes are written about, thre is this charismatic moment. These blue eyes drew me in. ginga

I am positively flattered dear ginga. Given the circumstances, I shall briefly bathe in the glow and enjoy with a gentle smile the flow again of your kind words. Drew.

How did I miss this wonderful piece...gentle reflections of Love!

Thanks M. It is 40 years old. I like to imagine it still has some resonance. Unfortunately for me, the event behind its creation still produces lingering pain, though perhaps not so strong. Drew.

So sorry...

Poetry is finer and more philosophical than history; for poetry expresses the universal, and history only the particular.

Aristotle (384 BC-322 BC) Greek philosopher.
