A Few Words

A Few Words

Pain, such a funny little word.
It makes one thinkabout how
the world is such a cold, empty
place, without a shred of remorse
or a few words of compassion.

Time, another funny little word.
It is the foundation for which all
pain has staked a claim on life,
never wanting to keep promises.

Hope, that isn't a funny word,
but people laugh at it anyway,
wishing that there was a way to
harness a little piece of their own.

Hate, that is my favorite word.
I have used it as a catalyst for
every bad, indecent thing I have
ever done in my life, not caring less.

Power, why is that even a word?
The one thing everyone wants and
the one thing so few people deserve.
God, please forgive your stupid children.

Life, this is a very important word.
Some take it for granted, whilst others
just seem too scared to even want it.
How can we call ourselves dominant?

Love, the most important word.
All want it, all need it, all take it,
but few ever give it, less see it, and most
can't even show it, no matter the cost.

Death, the very last word.
I know I will see mine eventually,
but for now I have more things to do
with what few decades I have left.

Faith, the most blessed of all words.
The one that brings all other words together
where everything can finally make sense.
This is what we all need to survive today.

now this is an amazing piece of writing...very simple concept, surprisingly powerful phrasing....I don't think anyone could read this and remain unaffected. 10

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
