A Hero's Legacy

A Hero's Legacy

If I could go back,
I would have done more.
Could have traveled the world,
I would have explored.
If I could go back,
I would have done better.
Would not have been foolish,
I would have been clever.
If I could go back,
I'ld make my amends,
I'ld turn all of my foes into my friends.
If I could go back,
As my father has shown me,
I'ld leave all better off for having had known me!
I'ld never look back!
Forget all my if's!
Move foward each day,
And live life as a gift!

I enjoyed your rhyme and theme. A tall order for a man at your age

I hate it when people just rate and do not comment, so I will just say that I enjoyed this poem!

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
