    A Man's Hands

A man’s hands, held mine in his.
A man’s hands, held my face for a kiss.
A man’s hands, smoothed out my hair.
    A man’s hands, promised life-long care.
A man’s hands, swore not to falter.
A man’s hands, held mine at the altar.
A man’s hands, held me at night.
A man’s hands, held our child at first sight.
A man’s hands, showed me so much love, then
A man’s hands, started to hit and shove.
A man’s hands, started to hurt.
A man’s hands, treated me like dirt.
A man’s hands, made me so scared.
    A man’s hands, just didn’t care.
    A man’s hands, just couldn’t see,
    A man’s hands, shouldn’t hurt me.

Your poem touched me for I too have felt a "man's hands" in the same manner as you.

hopefully not currently? thankfully i got away and am now remarried to a great guy.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
