A Morning Prayer

Poem Commentary

So often our prayers are centered on our selves or others, which is of course scriptural, but I wanted to offer a special prayer of thanksgiving back to God for all that I unconsciously take for granted. Seeing that the angels worship God, and we were made a little lower than the angels (Hebrews 2:7,8), shouldn't we follow their example? So one morning... upon awakening... before rising... I penned this heartfelt offering of thanksgiving back to my creator. Revelation 7:11-12, "and all the angels... worshipped God, Saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might, be unto our God for ever and ever. Amen." Blessings, Whiskers

A Morning Prayer

As I wake... before I stir... before my eye's do greet the world,

before my day begins to dawn, I lie here quietly... as one.

Our spirits touch, unite in love, me and my Father from above,

direct my thoughts, my speech, my way, for this another day I pray.

Thank you for my eye's to gaze upon the wonders you have made,

For hands to grasp, to touch, to hold, to recreate, design, to mold.

For ear's to hear the sounds Devine in heavenly praise from creation's kind.

Thank you for my sense of smell, to fill my soul from your fragrance well.

Thank you for a heart of love, closer drawn to my God above,

and for my spouse to share it's fill, a loving gift of the Father's will.

For feet to tread the path ahead, to follow Thee once left my bed,

And for Your Precious Living WORD, that as I study... Under girds.

For Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, and Salvation's gift I prize the most.

Now Bless this day and all I do, as I owe all my life to you…

Amen .

Outstanding, already a 10, also a favorite. You really have said a lot, if not all, The many reasons we love God are covered pretty darn nice. It is a beautiful poem. I love it. Keep writing my friend, you can only get better if you try to be consistent.

Love this! To often people live there lives without taking time to step back and reflect on the beauty of the world that our lord has made and given to us. Thanks for inspiring me to give thanks to the Lord more often.

My pleasure Andy, I'm glad it spoke to you. We all need that reminder in this fast paced world to pause and consider all that the Lord has provided. Blessings, Whiskers

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
