    A Not a Poem Poem

    A Not a Poem Poem

I will not write a poem

For I am not a poet

    I cannot makes things rhyme

I’ve tried for quite some time

So will I write a poem?

    NO!

    I can’t write poetry

I’ve tried to all my life

Once, I tried to write a poem

About a husband and his wife

    It sounded really silly

So I crumbled it up into a ball

    That’s why I decided

That I couldn’t write poetry at all

Am I gonna write a poem?

    NO!

Well, I’ll try to write a poem

But it will be really bad

    It will be absolutely lousy

    It will be completely horrible

It won’t be up to snuff

People will say, “Who wrote this stuff?”

    Will my poem be good?

    NO!

    Can I write a poem?

    NO!

    Will I write a poem?

    NO!

    Well, what do you know!?!

    I wrote a poem!

And it’s a pretty good poem, too!

I guess I can write poetry if I try

The next time I’m asked to write a poem,

    Will I say no?

    NO!

You bet your sweet bippies you won't say 'no' because you are a poet that comes along very few times in a lifetime. You in my mind of poetry I read and collect.....please you all by yourself in a cubicle called: 'this is the real stuff'. You are categorically 19 years young and your wisdom is in a league by itself. You are definitely a joy to that young mom and dad who have given you the finest dna available......ah so good to meet great people like you on this website. Ah old ladies like to talk and I am not the exception......but its true.....you are a rare bright gem....God bless you and the folks that raised you, Amen.

I like the self-referential way you did this. Underneath it, however, is the true joy of writing it, which refers to itself as well. Thank you.

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
