A Promise

A Promise

I once made a promise with all intentions to keep
The thought that one day it would break, was
one I could not have conceived
A promise, no matter how sincere it may be
will never have control over lifes changes nor its destiny
I no longer make a promise without knowing it will keep
even though in my heart I truly believe
Therefore my love, I cant promise you Forever
because forever Never ends
I will promise Now, and now is where forever begins

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
