    A QUESTION OF YESTERDAY

      A QUESTION OF YESTERDAY

    Think of this trading of

    eyes and flesh and bone

    for something new.

Did you think that you had

    all of the tomorrows;

    that all of your yesterdays

    were not a miracle

    entrusted to you?

    Consider a newborn’s

    cry and of

    all between.

    Do you think

    them by chance?

    What of the tears shed

    by those left behind

as you step from this light

    into the next?  Do their

    love matter less?

    Was this just an illusion

    or a dream

    lived in a blink

    of an eagle’s eye?

    Or are you just that

    newborn’s cry?

Good! It almost sounds as if you are trying to persuade someone not to commit suicide. This was really great work.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
