A Simple Declaration

Poem Commentary

After popping my haiku cherry with 'A Haiku for the Crab', I thought I'd go completely the opposite way. Instead of a set of 4 rhyming ones about a very disturbing subject, I'd revert back to the traditional 3 lined haiku about a lighthearted, innocent topic: liking someone! But, I still made it rhyme. Sorry peeps, I can't get away from them rhymes! Enjoy. Hopefully.

A Simple Declaration

A simple haiku,
Written because I'd like to
Declare I like you.

Oh thank you so much Stefy, that's really kind of you! Yeah, I enjoyed playing with haiku in my first attempt, but I wanted to lend its fabulous form to something far more uplifting and light-hearted, and get away from the seriousness of my usual work. Hence this- a playful, simple, short confession of fondness!

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
