    Poem Commentary

Sometimes, no matter what life is trying to do to you, somewhere from deep within the abist of your being, even out of all of the sadness and all of the trials, somewhere in there you have to find a way to smile. That is what being a soldier of the army of life is really all about. I will smile through this storm and I wont allow rain to cause me to drown. I am ready for battle.

    A Soldiers Smile

I will take this moment and turn it into a
    smile
I will take this heartache and lay it by the
    nile
I will make this moment my very
    own
I will take this sunrise and allow it to be the sweetest that I have ever
    known
I will bless this honor to be alive on this
    earth
I will embrace my feet that walk these miles, as I worship the
    dirt
I will inherit a worry free attitude and be glad one more
    day
I will bow down before the ocean and allow the blowing wind to fly my troubles
    away
I will be a babe to this life, and again see everything
    anew
I will take nothing for my journey now, and give trial to triumph a new
    hue.

Ah, B. if no one ever called you a poet, before, you've been hanging out with the wrong people, because a poet is certainly what you are, and the membership is better for it : )

Selfless. Even to the self. It read to me as being more focused on what needs to be done. A pre-emptive strike, before worry and regret set it and anchor the mind. I like the balance of it, not running into rage or being swallowed by doubt. Appreciating the moment and flowing with the current. {I will be a babe to this life, and again see everything anew} - Indeed! Who knew strength could reside in humbleness. And power could come to have such weakness. Man life just has so many more things to find. Enjoyed the read.

Poetry is not the expression of personality but an escape from personality.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
