    wrote this listening to band of horses

    A Song for the Departed
    if all you ever saw
    was me passed out on the floor
    you might not want
    to come over anymore
    but there are smiles
    and there are days
    when we love
    to see and play
    there are times
    spent between us
    that are definitely okay
    so why cant all our days
    be more
    i wish i knew you
    way...way before
    so why can't everything be love
    i wish i knew a way to give
    you what
    you need
    ive got problems
    i drink them away
    ive got worries
    i wish i werent so lonely
    so apart
    if all you ever saw
    was me passed out on the floor
    maybe you might not come over anymore
    if all you ever knew
    were bad memories
    and im the one
    who threw you into misery
    i wish i could know you
    for just one day
    without pretending that its all okay
    because all we ever do
    is lounge and cry
    laugh in the places
    where love used to lie
    its not as if i knew you
    or ever thought i could
    you and i
    are exactly what
    we thought we were
    if all you ever saw
    was me passed out on the floor
    maybe you wouldnt
    have asked my name
    if all you ever knew of me
    was that i'll never know you
    maybe you wouldnt
    have asked me to fall in love with you
    if all you ever saw
    was me passed out on the floor
    we wouldn't be lost
    and screaming for more

    i lvove it. the passion is SO clear, its standin in the open, like it or not. good thing i dont have to worry abotu the or not part ! keep writing:)

    AmadeusEx, This sad story rings a bell and so many couples struggle to stay together as the drink turns into the passout and the sober one suffers emotionally. The poem emotes that pain and regret of what addiction does . ginga

    ok i love it i would like to say a hook would fit nice in there but it stands to be a great song as is good concepts feeling emotions all together makes for a great poem and song like i said i love it i give it a big 10 and you are a great poet
