A Thousand Pieces

A Thousand Pieces

From the glass of a broken shell

About a thousand pieces

What a story they tell

Broken glass

About a thousand pieces

Relinquishing the past

Memories of hurt

And of pain

Endless rivers of tears

What was the gain?

Among the broken wreckage

About a thousand pieces

From a world so hectic

Holding me down

Keeping me bound

So tightly wound

Up

About a thousand pieces

That once fit so neat

About a thousand pieces

That were once a part of me

But no more

I am no longer trapped

From the glass of my broken shell

About a thousand pieces

What a story they tell

Wonderful piece! I truly enjoyed the wordplay and theimagery of the broken pieces. Good job!

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
