A True Legend in His Time

A True Legend in his Time

    This soulful troubadour I admire
Whose lyrics and music does inspire
    Has unofficially spoken out
To all the concepts that spread fear and doubt

He is not only an activist
    But a powerful poetic fist
That strikes out against the tom foolery of
Those whose political statements poke fun at love

And not the Eros love with which some acquaint
    The parameters of being saints
But the love for the common good
Of all humanity, the love of brotherhood

    Young and vibrant and sensational
    His words and music inspirational
He’s picked up the torch and began to run
In his allotted time to get things done

So this generation has one more of many voices
    To wisely offer many choices
To the masses of his age
To write on History’s vaunted page

    Words of inspiration and hope
To help his generation to cope
With political issues that boggle the mind
John Legend, a true legend in his time

    H. Wilson

You are one of my favorite poets from originalpoetry. I don't remember if I have said that before. You are a good writer, keep it up.

Thank you your comment is greatly appreciated. I hope I can remain one of your favorites

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
