    ABOUT THAT BLISS

    I had a constant daydream.
    I could see a task
    I knew would call
    Upon my skill.
    With guidance and support
    I had the will
    To change the world,
    Fulfill my destiny.
    And for awhile,
    But after many tries,
    I reached a place
    Where everything seemed right
    And I made good mistakes
    And I grew wise.
Just who the hell were you
    To tell me "No!
    That can't be done!"
    Prepared to fly or fail,
    I wondered,
    Did you fear
    I might prevail?
    Or was it change, itself,
    That is your foe?
    Without review
    My vision you dismissed.
    Deliberately
    On my sweet bliss
    You pissed.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
