    ACCEPT ME

I stepped outside of myself only to find an abundance
of raw reflections that wear on me like a pair of hurting
tight shoes that could not be removed.

Mirroered images that seemed to be different, unreal, ugly, traumatizing, and stereotypic to all who created
    them.............................Except for me.

    See, the reflection I am,
Throughout life I bore your evil names........... You stupid
Child, You will never amount to anything, - cry baby,
You are weak and Too black "Darky" and still I often bear
your Enigmatic tones and echoeing voices in my head that
escalates to humor, a chuckle of laughter, whispers or
topical conversations in amusement to all of
    You................................Except for me.

    Ever just wanted some Acceptance?
Approval, to be held in high Esteem, Favored, Appreciated.
Admired, not to be looked down on, but to be looked
up upon. Maybe your are already there! You know accepted,
Well known and of course Except for me
You all got it going on.

See me now, Same mirrored images

I think we all know the feeling of being unaccepted for who we really are. This is a celebratory piece that transcends the negative stereotypes and stigmas that were placed on you. Very uplifting. Great job.

Greetings I welcome your comments & critiques as well... Accept me was written for a friend of mine who now lives a very celebratory life and is very active in community! But stay tuned I will definitely check out your work! Peace & Blessings Niecy

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

    Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
