“Hopes”

Forgive me as my words may sound all jumbled

So here I go as I try not to stumble

One Day I was feeling down, alone and depressed

In tears on the floor feeling nothing but stress

Upon my knees I began to pray

Dear lord help me find compassion that won’t astray

I need your help through this hard time

To give me strength, to know that things will be fine

Teach me to have patience to help my relationship grow

For I know that my prayers will come true and it’ll show

Ending my prayer I sat in tears

Still feeling lonely I began texting my peers

I texted you with hopes to find comfort and ease

You replied back and I felt very pleased

I found a friend to help me through

I wanted that feeling to be forever true

You’ve been there for me when I was down

You’ve picked up my spirit and changed my frown

You brought a smile to my face

And the depression seemed to erase

Since that day I never will forget

You saved me from something I would have regret

As I had thoughts of death in my mind

A gift sent from god, an angel I did find

To bring the dim light that I carried within

Making my light shine once again

I haven’t felt this feeling in years

And then I started to feel the fears

Fears of loving once again

And this is where it begins

Learning that with patience love will grow

My prayers will come true and it’ll show

My feelings for you has grown as we have talked

With hopes that one day together we will walk

Entrusting in god the love we have for each other

Watching our relationship grow stronger for one another

Sending up my prayers every minute of the day

With hopes that I will one day hear you say

I want to be with you for the rest of my life

As you take my hands in yours asking me to be your wife

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
