Addiction

Addiction

Clawing, tearing, ripping
from the depths of my soul
Deadly desire grips my heart
as I faintly fight for control
Lovely, blinding numbness
I desperately grasp for
Beautiful distraction floods my mind
refusing to allow me to focus
Torn between craving and sobriety
I keep slipping closer to the edge
Begging for final release
I repeat the cycle yet again

Vincent commented on Addiction

This a good poem, deserved a higher rating, That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Smile Vincent

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
