After 1992

Lost connections
has it been far
too long yet,
why is it we tend
to start up where we
left off.
Your life as removed
as mine,
but our similarities
are inner twined,
just like years past
tense;
not at all.
First time in a while
I feel eager to smile.
Hun, Babe,
you know just what things
to say, to make me
feel human again.
We live in anxiety,
but surrender to calm,
in conversation.
First time in a while
I feel excited to smile.

Sometimes a person has to laugh or smile. Your poem reminds me that we sometimes fail to see the small things we can smile about.

I soooo know the feeling. First time in a long time I am excited to smile. Or there is excitment in my smile. Well, cuz you put it there.:)

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
