    After The LOve

after the love is gone what do I do
continue my search for someone new
after the love has went it's own way
    what can I possibly say
after the love has crashed & burned
Tissues to wipe my eyes--to my friends is
    where I turn
after the love has stripped the body & soul
am I gonna be an empty shell--bitter & cold
after the love has dwindled away
will I have the courage to see another day
after the love has touched your heart
will it soothe you or tear you apart
after the love has moved on to the next
a silent phone--not even an incoming text
after the love has said it's farewell
butterflies churning in your stomach--you're not feeling
    so well
after the love you have paid the price
for all the kisses & dinners that were nice
after the love you will be alone
guarded & shielding your heart of stone
