    alice ann

why am i thinking of you alice ann
i haven't seen you since the year after i graduated
    you looked lonely i remember
we didn't make it to the Rock River High School all school reunion in 85'
let's go to north albany alice ann
you can teach me to dance
    i never learned
why did you die alice ann
i wish i had been there to hold your hand
in that true blue simple pure innocent high school purple passion friendship that never dies spirit of Rock River High School 63' forever
on a plane to San Juan alice ann
plugged into leann rimes singing unchained melody
the lonely arms of the sea wait for me wait for me
the water is a hundred shades of blue and green over some island on the way to Puerto Rico alice ann
i can see the bottom from 40,000 feet
time can do so much for me to the lonely arms of the sea wait for me
    wait for me
get your red head out of bed alice ann
    we're landing
the back of the plane does it's little sideways movement to the wind
the tires screech down on the concrete
the sky is gone the ocean is gone
the cargo door opens in front of my window
the plane has stopped people are standing up
waiting that interminable wait before they unlatch the people door
i'm still in the headphones this is the fourth time around
i'm hanging on to this girl hurling the last line of unchained melody
into orbit around some planet i'll never see
we are a long way from home alice ann
wait for me wait for me

We are nobody unless somebody grieves when they remember we are gone. I liked this one alot. There was a blonde Swede who perished a couple of years out of high school caught in a flash flood in Arizona, of all places. I thought of her while reading this piece. Whistful, nostalgic, and pensive. You took her on vacation with you. And now you brought her here. Great write. Harv

I love the way you crafted this, it's exquisite. Like a dirge. 10

Thank you Tender. She was a friend who died sadly. I wrote it just like it came to me, on a plane trip thinking of her listening to Leann. T64
