All Proper Hollow Staples

All Proper Hollow Staples

On  summer dreams, and midnight screams

A shattered bitter fable seems

Some wretched jail, a blasphemous tale

A squandered hate that won’t prevail

With fruitless casts which never last

All proper hollow staples

Its twist begins, irreverent trends

To endure, outlast unable

-M. Jacobs

You have read many of mind and as you know my thought process is very direct... so in other words i can be dense lol however this one particularly has completely enveloped my senses! and is beautifully written =) id love to know the thoughts that went into the making of this !!

This reflects my short style of writing and it's about a relationship that won't last because it is fruitless and it has all of the trimmings, money, power, and comforts. But no true love or passion. All Proper Hollow Staples refers to the basic things a man provides a woman in a relationship. It is not about me.

When written words are swords, and hopefully their paper won't last long.

I like many of your poems that have deep meanings and require additional readings to reveal your thought and then to dissect your metaphors. A good piece that brings the past into present. Write ON!

Thanks for your comment and rating. Great to hear from you.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
