America Rise Up

Poem Commentary

Feeling like I must say something about the ways of our world!

America Rise Up

America Rise Up

America Awaken, America Reunite

Feel the spirit of our reckoning

the undercurrent of the fight

Join into collaboration

Feel the power of adoration

For love is our only salvation

From a stinking pile of fabrication

Respect hearts and make adulation

For the price of calculation

Is the loss of our great nation

Might vs. right, conflict vs. clash

Impetuous are our leaders

Foolish and precarious, they wager the stash

Hasty in their dash for cash

sudden and unthinking

grabbing restless seething rash

Leaping without blinking

Foolhardy, arrogant and lazy we have been

Rise Up America, We Must Begin Again!

Having only sought power and command

With a so-called righteous stealthy hand

We now must take our fervent stand

We should be enraged and engaged

if we don’t take action, we’ll be forced into a cage

Domination, jurisdiction, hegemony and control

are tools of wicked liars aiming at the goal

We must stop this useless way of thinking that is old

Rise Up America, Do Not Do As You Are Told!

Act from your Heart with a fresh new start

That is as good as Gold.

Bravo, my friend. Well said. Boy you can be pretty passionate when you want to. I read this aloud to myself and felt my voice rising with each stanza. Sort of felt like I was on a pedestal talking through a megaphone to a crowd of gathered Americans at some kind of political rally. Great job. I love it when people speak their mind and do so in such an elogant way. To me, it is American, in the purist sense. I am shaking a little and out of breath here. Thanks for sharing.... Kevin

Spoken from the heart. Great flow and build up. Loved the mixture of rhyme and rhythm. Passionate and full of fervent messages from the heart. Nice write!

Crooked politicians are a scourge, they are all over New jersey, unfortunately.

I just had to get that off my chest. Thanks for reading.

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
