    Amorous Apparition

    Ocean sunset falls soft on shallow graves
    Lingering souls rustle about-
    Jazz pours quiet and cool through the under taker’s door;
    Sun sleeps and moon wakes,
    Ghostly ghouls begin to rise.

    Lost in the tides of time,
    Lonely souls float about-
    Dancing hand in hand through the warm summer wind;
    Melodic notes swirl about forgotten phantoms
    As they search for their vague pasts.

    Low moans disturb the cemetery stillness
    Rueful hollow eyes peer about-
    And the foggy entities sway gracefully
    Moon light flickers through the rustling branches;
    Step by step they find their rhythm
    And faintly they weep.

    Sun climbs slow to crack early morning skies,
    Shrill sighs echo and fade-
    They shuffle slowly,
    Ominous tombs awaiting;
    Falling into a deep slumber,
    Never to dance again until next summer.
