Around About

I put myself together just like I can put myself out

I’m tired of walking around, all around about

I hear you’re like a snake in the grass

And that you can bite real hard

And make grown men like me cry

And naive women like you sign apart

Love, isn’t that what it’s all about?

Well if it is then I’m tired,

Tired of walking all around about

Shards of glass, they outline the stars

On a black paved road behind the saloons and bars

We take to the night to escape from the day

To tell our lovers we need some space

And even if we didn’t we still stay away

Because too much is enough and I don’t want it to fade

Love, isn’t that what it’s all about?

Well if it is then I’m tired,

Tired of walking all around about

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
