    Arsen & Overseas

She left my open arms for Italy to give herself away.
There's still talk of meeting and running away
But sweet memories have faded into a whisper.

    Loneliness hit
And every song I never listen to makes some serene sense.
It's the stupid ways we give our hearts prematurely to underdeveloped relationships.

These lonely nights must end . . .
There has to be someone worth hurting for.
The passing of two days won't ease the pain
Compounded by this sense of loss.

These one night stands must end . . .
There has to be someone worth staying for.
Single framed memories won't ease the pain
Compounded by this sense of loss.

    Arsen,
    Under pretense of affection,
Detached effort, no reward for quitting first.
    Arsen under pretense of affection,
Impeding progress from a promise to allow . . .

Forfeit the hope of ever winning this round
For nothing more than wishful thinking.
I've resolved to fly until I bleed in a vacant lot,
    Surrounded by tall buildings.
Hoping for one last look of love on a stranger's face . . .
Leave this fire to burn itself out before this bridge between us collapses.

    Simple life is impossible.
All symptoms of previous breakdowns have become deja vu.
Falling in love with a broken heart
Finds me nursing things that loved me back when no one else would.

I'm Yossarian bound if this keeps up.
Cathedrals have lost all meaning since the day she went away . . .
Without her voice to soothe these endless songs repeat . . .

Sell me insurance for sleep . . .

    :) Thanks!

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
