    Poem Commentary

this is about my childhood..kind of obvious i think

    As A Child

    as a child
    i was all wander
    endless wonder
    small feet rustling
    beneath skies of thunder
    raincoat flashing
    laden with water
    all my boyishness
    and laughter
    and devotion
to the detail of my small figures
    the thoughts in the minds
of my lost and found strangers
    with each step
    danger
    falling from trees
    landing in freshly piled leaves
    from summer to spring
    and the chill of winter
    as a child i wish
    that i could linger
    with trembling breath
    and manic fingers
    to cling to a youth
    i cannot remember
    just vivid pictures
    painted with liqour
    behind closed eyes
    in sodden dreams
    awake in the morning
    to change all things
    as a child...as a child...
as a child wicked and wild
    beyond the cares
    beyond the stares
    small body so big
    the world so small
    swim in the water
    climb up the wall
    as a child so small
    as a child so small...

Funny commentary! Slick close, it invokes a feeling that all of childhood might have just been a dream. Interesting further because memories and dreams are somewhat similar. It's amazing, all the simple things an adult cannot do in this society of derelict dictates and empty edicts. Childhood was truly so carefree, clean and innocent. Hey, Amad, on the bright side, some have childhoods they'd rather not revisit - abuse, disorders, orphanages, etc. Mnemonic write!!

aahhh childhood, when things were simple and innocent. We all have times when we wish we could go back. Great job on this, love your style.

I miss being a child also . I bet you were quite the adorable little boy . if only we could be that tiny again and the world to mean as much :)

I really like this one, I think we all wish for those care free days, it's just the in between until now that we probably wouldn't want to relive, you captured the care free days that seemed to last forever, and we wanted them to last forever and made the reader ache for nostalgia, you brought us into your poem, success of a poet, I want to get lost in your poem and never come out!!!

I like this poem....I sometimes wish I was a kid again....not a care in the world just playing outside. Some people take their childhood for granted and want to grow up too fast. Very nice poem

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.
