As I Lie Here

As I Lie Here

I wonder what other people are thinking
Are they as happy as they can be
Are their lives filled with tranquility
Four walls are closing in and suffocating me

Get me out of here to smell the fresh air
The cool breeze might appeal to my heart
Walking alone is a way of life for me
Facing today and tomorrow's uncertainty

My future is vanity in the eyes of some
A dream is a wish that I need to come
As day turns into night, I awaken
A monster in the mirror who's forsaken

Tragedy belies a happy smile on my face
My daydreams take me to another place
Lost in a world of the unnoticed and forgotten
Anxiously awaiting a new day with new possibilities

I also have mood swings but with the proper medication I stay up beat. Your poem is no mystery and your thoughts are well taken. Awesome poetic persuasion. LOL, BDC

I try. Some days they come out right, and some days I feel like I can't write. Either way, I'm glad you enjoyed a small piece of me. Take care friend.

Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate them very much.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
