As The River Runs.

As the river runs I listened by its bank,
The clattering sounds, its hissing, it's pollutants when it stank,
Though it's dark and colored, it's refereshing to me,
A victim of man's defilement is still a pleasure to see.
A dumping ground of refuse, is bombarding us it's true,
Polluting it is common place, it's colors misty blue!

With such abundant knowledge, that very few does care,
Protecting the environment lacks importance that is clear!
Whenever we think of such a violation think of the life in it,
Some rather take a middle ground and be indefinate,
As to where they stand with this issue of pollutants that made,
Sickness, death and pain  to refrain from calling a spade a spade.

Should we not keep in check these rapists of nature that be,
The ones that think nothing of destroying our trees?
That hangs by our riverbanks and keep our environment cool,
Is nothing to the idiot, just nothing for the fool,
He spills in our rivers that runs out to the sea,
As much contaminants as he can possibly!

Oh! as I long for the times when as a little boy,
To play by this rolling river with my dingy and my toys,
I languish at the longing of these days to return,
But it's such a bitter pill for all the facts that I've learnt.
I may never be able to take water in my hand,
From you noisy and beautiful river with it's darkened sand.

I can never bathe in you or have a picnic near,
Or have fun with family, with laughter and with cheer,
For as we become industrialized we will never care,
The proliferation of our natural laws have heightened all our fears,
Those that have the power to forbid this action must,
Do something about this don't just stand and cuss!

I see all the fishes dying, great big ones and small,
Yet I see them frying in kitchens and on stalls,
We should not eat them unless we protect the source,
And punish the polluters by dictation or by force!
They'll not learn unless you hold up a big stick!
And continue to strike 'em with fines and big licks.
