ASSUMPTIONS 2

When I walk on solid  ground
I feel no  need to fear
Anticipating rocky roads
My strength soon disappears

Solid grounds turn to gravel
First within my mind
Anguish caused by dwelling thoughts
Way before it's time

The thoughts become exaggerated
The small becomes extreme
Taking just a single word
Creating a story  theme

The Plot begins to thicken
Only in my head
Causing stormy feelings
Twisting all one said

I hide in my own  shadow
People cause me pain
The repetitive thinking
is driving me insane

People stop  to look
What is it they see
Why do I assume
They stopped to look at me

There's times I feel I'm  hideous
My self esteem is dead
Convinced the world feels this too
I manufacture dread

I dwell on my thoughts persistently
I  think for others too
Writing my own ending
With a judging attitude

Had I put aside this thought
With the assumptions I assumed
All the self made misery
With agonizing doom

Had  I  not ruminated
Relied on past regrets
I wouldn't feel bankrupt
Still falling into debt
