    Back to Front -- Ray Martin

    In quiet reverie I stand alone
    On salty beach o’erlooking endless sea.
    The peaceful memories are those I own
    From reaching back into eternity.

    Young as the moment, old as time itself,
    I understand what can’t be understood,
    Like dusty books upon a dusty shelf
    Where once the mighty strains of wisdom stood.

    My pride o’ercomes me, knowing the fool I am,
    And, knowing this, am humbled once again.
    From trap to trap like slaughter to the lamb,
    I wonder now just where the hell I’ve been.

    The battle plans to bring the world to peace
    Have all been drawn within the soul of me –
    To force conflicting issues all to cease;
    The Master Plan to conquer tyranny.

    And when the moment comes to launch my scheme,
    The colored sunset obfuscates my eyes.
    Perceptions all reversed within, ‘twould seem;
    In weakness lies the power of the wise.

    In quiet reverie alone am I,
    The pounding sea massages endless shore.
    Again I breathe the universal sigh –
    And peace descends upon the world once more.

    The questioning of ones being and existence. I like the line " In weakness lies the power of the wise". We do learn wisdom from the times life deals us its blows. The whole poem exudes in dept thought.
