Back To Sleep

Night comes again
The crickets start to sing
The children sleep
And the owls take wing

Night comes again
To their children, the mothers sing
The rodents sleep
And the street-walkers take wing

Night comes again
The moon starts to sing
The sun goes to sleep
And the stars take wing

Dawn comes again
The roosters start to sing
The tired sleep
And the suits take wing

Dawn comes again
The alarm clocks sing
The children sleep
And the moms take wing

Dawn comes again
The moon starts to sing
The stars sleep
And the sun takes wing

Day comes again
The sun starts to sing
The nocturnal sleep
And the children take wing

Day comes again
The girls start to sing
The tired sleep
And the boys take wing

Day comes again
The performers sing
The reposing sleep
And the free take wing

Dusk comes again
The ladies start to sing
The early risers sleep
And the Night take wing

Dusk comes again
The eagles sing
The lucky sleep
And the high take wing

Dusk comes again
The drunk start to sing
The innocent sleep
And the predators take wing

When power leads man towards arrogance, poetry reminds him of his limitations. When power narrows the area of man's concern, poetry reminds him of the richness and diversity of existence. When power corrupts, poetry cleanses.

John F. Kennedy (1917-1963) Thirty-fifth President of the USA
