Being You

Poem Commentary

Another random free-flowing thought....

Being You

I like to get surreal
Float and chill
This has great appeal
And so I will
Continue to check out
Different landscapes
New ground, new colors
Different shapes
Different thoughts
In altered states
Shifting through
Dimensional gates
These many shades
Help me relate
At once to both
Opposites
See the view
Of the two
Lost in thoughts
Swirl and drift
Grabs the senses
Twirls and lifts
Through my daydreams
Amber sifts
Shines a light
Upon my gifts
Twinkle twinkle
Crystal magic
Set to flame
Release the rabbit
Who takes me to
A wonderland
Lets me take
Another stand
Lets me look
On the other hand
See a world
In a grain of sand
And I trust my life is playing out
Exactly as planned
Though I made those plans
From something expanded
Do I have your attention?
Are you catching what I'm throwing?
Are you tasting what I'm cooking?
Are you feeling what I'm flowing?
Did I catch a glimmer
Of recognition?
Did I cause the thoughts to simmer
In your mental kitchen?
Because that would be bitchin'
If you tuned to my station
Tapped into my frequency
Without hesitation
Could feel what I feel
Could see what I see
Could offer the same
Right back to me
It would be cool
If you could be me
And I could be you
For an instant to see
Without my eyes
But with my heart
The insights I'd find
Into who you are
And I could then relate
As you could to me
In a different space
Where I'd drift into light
Vanish from sight
Reappear in a dream
Blow in with the breeze
Inspire a theme
Crest in the seas
Always drifting to some
Fairytale place
Like thick enchanted forests
Or outer space
All at once
Be in every place
Be every body
And every face
It would be nice for a minute
To marinate in it
Finally understanding
That when you lose it
You win it

I LOVED this poem. The feelings and desires feel so real to the reader, especially given the flow and the way everything is placed together. Beautiful work.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
