    Poem Commentary

My English teacher pointed something out as we study poetry. Words can portray emotions. So, I decided to create the illusion of becoming lost in a forest, with nothing but words. Please do enjoy.

    Bemused

I once wandered into a forest
And left a world I knew
    And then items transmutated
as I, then, traversed, thus through

    I, incognizant
    amongst coniferous and angiosperms
    amid Foxglove and Breadnut
betwixt Boojum and Coco de Mer

    Wayward and rapt
    then, a refulgence
    Acceleration towards erudition
    lead to over-indulgance

    Absconded, headed outwards
A place I recognize as friend
    and I refuse, so confused
    to ever go there again

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
