Betrayed

Poem Commentary

This was written not long after my friend was killed, it was originally a drawing.  Hills in the background with many paths twisting and turning down them, a moon and clouds in the shape of a side profile of a face and hair streaming behind.

Betrayed

So many paths

          From which to choose,

So easily

          They can confuse.

So do I take

          The left or right?

Which one does lead

Me to the light?

So many paths

          None with a mark,

How do I know

          The path of dark?

You took one path

And I another

Were you right

          Or will you smother?

You are now gone

          And I betrayed

You are now gone

          So here I lay.

They say those who

You love do wait

For you to answer

          And grab the bait.

You are now gone

          And I betrayed,

You went left

And I the other way.
