    Blah Blah Blah

    Are you a poet?

I pose the simple question for you to ponder

for your sake as well as others

I can admit I’m not so you need not wonder

as I have seen the work of the great poem writers

expression is critical to soothe one’s soul

so all should be free to try

but you must ask yourself “what is my goal”

    before just letting fly

many say they write only for themselves

yet they post their poems none the same

many write  epic tomes to fill a  dozen shelves

and give it a catchy poetic name

     some questions one should pose

whether it be their first or fiftieth write

is my self-proclaimed masterpiece verse or prose?

    what audience might it delight?

    does my poem have meaning?

or is it to cryptic to unravel?

    does the spelling need cleaning?

or might it get the judges poetic gavel?

does it flow in a reasonable manner?

is my tempo or rhythm problematic?

would my phrasing be considered banner?

is my work smooth or downright erratic

the true poet is a student of the art

    always seeking the next hurrah

examine your work and write smart

try not to be guilty of Blah Blah Blah

I'll admit I can be extremely quilty of "blah, blah, blah", those are the ones try to keep from contest. I agree it's an art, one I'm still a student of, many teachers here for those who pay attention to others form. One thing I notice in so much in your poems, you lay down the law, for all those who are quilty. Where's your badge Hampton? J/K. I'm a huge fan of yours, it just seems I find my faults, when I read your poems! Great write!

We are all students at this point. I thank you for your gracious comments.

This one could be the first one 'poets' should read before submission. Poetry - Eh - but content superb

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.

    T. S. Eliot (1888-1965) American-English poet and playwright.
