    Ode to Vanessa - My pride and joy, my loving daughter ........... This poem won the Weekly Contest in Sept '09 and is published in the first "Original Poetry Anthology".

    I am a blank page ...
    nothing enscribed - nothing stained.
    I am clear - a story untold,
    Free of sin - an unblemished soul. 

    Free of hatred - free of pain,
    Nothing given and all to gain 
    I am love - simple and pure, 
    Just who I am? I am not sure.

    I am a blank page ... 
    Nothing torn - nothing strained.
    I am new -  for I know not,
    I only know what I am taught

    Free of  knowledge- free of spite,
    Know nothing of what's wrong or right.
    Free of anger - Free of fear,
    I only know that I am here.

    I am a blank page ...
    So please, write me with a purposeful hand.
    Instill all of your best qualities,
    So that I may become the best that I can.

    I am love - simple and pure,
    Just who I am? I am not sure.

    Wow Knight, I had come for a visit and scrolling down your poem page I happend to notice the high number on this one. This is definite well done and could only come from immense talent!     and yet another great write; so true how newborns are just a blank page and we should be cautious on just how we fill their chapters of life. I noticed one correction I think you meant know not no in the line; "no nothing that's wrong or right" or maybe I'm reading it wrong. regardless another great one.

    Thanks Angel, One of those words that don't get picked up buy spell check. Man, This one is published in the New OP book .. I hope I submitted it with "know" or the editors caught it. Funny, it won a weekly contest - has a multitude of comments and not one of them mentioned this error. Damn! good eye! :) Thanks for pointing it out and for your comments! :) Ken

    Great work Knight. I am a first time father and there was nothing like seeing my son born. I was filled with so much hope for him and his life. Sad thing is that depending on circumstances, some people saw their children as curses and punishment for sin. They saw them as imminent headaches and frustration but the truth is when they get here, they are just as you described here. Thanks for the reminder.

    Thanks Savant! I appreciate your comments. What you say is true. Terribly sad, but an unfortunate truth. The thing that bothers me most .. is that the child didn't ask to be born. They were brought into the world from either a loving union or because of a few minutes os selfish sexual gratification. I think that they are a blessing and need to be handled with care. They are like a sandcastle, left unattended, they can be trampled and washed away. But with few touch ups, we can build a moat to protect them and they will stand on their own for a very long time.
