    Brilliant Presence

    what is this brilliant presence?

    she asked, demurely,

    eyes wide, wondrous, trusting,

    is it my beauty?

    coyly batting an eye

    and smiling,

aye, for you are most fair of face ... but,

is it my lithe and supple body?

    preening, posing,

    and teasing,

you are both delightful to behold, and hold … but,

is it my hair, my eyes?

    frustration now growing,

    curious still,

honey-haired, eyes the color of sea foam, beautiful … but,

what is my brilliant presence, then?

    hurt, confused,

    yet, wondering, hoping,

‘tis all of those, yet more,

you glide thru space, not moving or molding,

    simply passing,

when you smile, the day is dazzled,

when you are near me, my heart dances,

moreover, in my arms, you are all that makes my world

    right!
