Poem Commentary

just trying to get back into the swing of writing. College life is difficult and I definitely need an outlet. This poem is about someone I just meet and I needed some way to vent...sorry if it's choppy

Burn in yearning

I need you to promise me
please I need this to be.
don't dare touch my skin
for it puts fire in my heart of tin
don't look into my eyes, please don't yearn
If I fall I know I wont survive the inevitable burn
don't whisper my name
i'd lose all that keeps me tame
please don't stand that near
i don't want to explain my fear
I love you but I long to not
you make my head feel like i've been shot
are you really for me
or is this a lie never meant to be

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
