    Poem Commentary

this poem is about everything i want to say to my dad but can not becuase he doesnt allow me to express how i feel without twisting what i say or putting words into my mouth

But... my Words I must chew

There are so many things I would
    like to say to you
    but...my words I must chew
Only because you say your the adult and I'm the baby colt
You realize that what I may say, may make sense
but instead you think I'm witty and dense
So I with hold my thoughts with all my might
and let you think you have won the fight
You become irate at me for not "using my head"
and yet all you think, is that there is air in there instead
You will soon realize all that is taught to me will not benefit you, but only me
I can't describe all the things I would like to say to you

    But...my words I must chew

I know how tough it is to bite your tongue. You can take some satisfaction in knowing that the only validation you really need is your own. Great stuff, Kym.

this is very good! Well thought out write! I like the style of your poem.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.
