Captured

In the belly see me devoured
The beast knows no limit
Robbed of evey shred
Left to kick and scream
As if I could hear my own
Conscience

What of me now is the end near
The hour of retreat a bygone
In the beast never to breathe free
Suffocated by decision to ignore
Conscience

Hiding behind plastic shield
Instruments of oppression
Wielded in futile attempt to escape
The doubt behind my eyes
Captured

Very good since of how a poem can taking many directions but end up captured

The true philosopher and the true poet are one, and a beauty, which is truth, and a truth, which is beauty, is the aim of both.

Ralph Waldo Emerson, American Poet (1803-1882)
