    cement shoes

     cement shoes

    he shined on
    street corners
    of chicago for
    45 years

    during winter 
    in the windy city
    shined inside-
    convention halls
    shopping malls
    hotels....

    a customer
    had stepped
    in wet cement
    which hardened

    he pleaded to
    the shiner
    " i have the most
    importnat job interview
    of my life in 15
    minutes"

    the shiner took
    a hammer
    he uses to
    fix his shine chair
    and he chiseled away
    at that cement
    and-
    put a mirror
    shine on the
    frantic mans
    shoes

    that guy
    got that job
    and came
    back with a
    $100.00 tip

    What an inspirational piece. A beautiful tribute to the basic notion. Give kindess and thy shall receive. What one receives is not always monetary or material - It is sometimes spiritual and emotional - Much like this piece. Nice Work!
