Children

My children are a gift from God--truly
I know I had nothing to do with their creation
Other than biology...innate.
It took no planning or designing, they were already molded
By the Father's hands.

I kept them safe and warm inside--
The womb he prepared for that very need
Until they emerged to share their souls with mine
In this chaotic, lovely world.
What purpose and what paths we take
He alone knows, but I appreciate
The time He afforded me
To be their Mom, their mentor, their guide
ALthough I am ill qualified, He trusted me
I must do my best, I MUST do my best.

Thats beautiful mom. You did the best you could with the resources you had. I love you.

I like the emotional sentiment of beiing a mother in this poem. I like how you say you are ill qualified because I think a lot of mothers feel this way about themselves. I believe, also, that our children are a gift from God:) Very sweet tribute to children.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
