    Circles

Life is a series of circles going round and round.
Endless curves and hills filled with ups and downs.

    Mistakes made then repeated again.
We wonder will we ever learn – will it ever end?

What is now has been before.
What is ahead will be again.
I don’t know about you – but that scares me friend.

Seven years of sobriety – lost in just one night.
I wanted to be an example (to my son)
    The one I’d never been.
Instead I renewed my addiction - then joined him in his.

If I feel physically as if the top of my head were taken off, I know that is poetry.

    Emily Dickinson (1830-1886) American poet.
