    Musical expressions doesn't have to be debasing, arrogant and full of violence to be enjoyable. Spread love with music, human understanding and friendship as Bob Marley did. Not violence.

    Clean Reggae Music Now!

     Reggae Music is a cultural expression of
    Jamaica a very proud nation,
    Amongst the most popular of musical
    expressions in this dispensation,
    Lately, there are those whose artistic
    expressions have taken it to low levels,
    Lyrics of hate and gun violence,
    Debasing women, an art form unravelled.

    Music a very strong and potent vehicle
    for our messages today,
    But even if it's entertaining,
    we must be careful of the messages conveyed,
    We must never use our artistic expressions
    to promote violence and gun talk,
    Cultural ambassador Mr. Performer,
    stop the the gun talk and take a walk
    Get the facts and clean up your act you're
    singing for Jamaica, an established fact!

    Thanking the reggae giants that have gone before,
    Those that are recording and those that are on tour,
    Because of our reggae and reggae rap music we've gain lots of influence,
    Our artistic poetic creations of music are our most popular events.

    Since reggae is the music that makes us well known,
    We'll frown at our music in a negative tone,
    We're overjoyed with positive messages that rocks the bone,
    But gangs and guntalk we do not condone.

    When you go overseas to chant reggae to all,
    Give positive messages to make us stand tall,
    If you sing to people who love the gun talk,
    You'll regret the direction you choose to walk,
    Just do not tell them you're Jamaican,
    Just don't tell them where you're from,
    You're not representing our country,
    And just satisfying your own egotistic folly.

    When for a few dollars you make us look poor,
    just stay away for good from our shores,
    This an opportunity to use your talents and means,
    To spread positive messages while entertaining adults and teens,
    Because with our music you must entertain,
    Choose the best lyrics, just bring us no shame,
    Be like those Reggae stars that makes us proud,
    Give them the best lyrics to stir up the crowd.

    You have no idea how much I love this one. ONE LOVE! haha, I love Roots, Rock, Reggae. I have seen every major Reggae player there is to see whom is still alive from Buju Banton to Burning Spear to Ziggy Marley...The list goes on and on. This music is underappreciated and typically stereotyped. Great write. Jah Love ~Spence

    Thanks Su, I'm glad you seen the point I'm trying to make. I just like to hear a lot of our singers sing of whats happenning in our world, of love of inequality and some great thinks that can make us happy people, yet sometimes there are those who promote violence, and I believe we've seen enough violence in the world already, so theres no need to promote it again with music.

    I so get where you are coming from....I am a Die Hard Dancehall fan and Soca as well....the songs are usually a fun way of expressions married to beats.... some do get raunchy at times...but mostly its all in fun...The best Dancehall music for me was in the 1990's...Action,Bogle,murder she wrote,and brownin...fun songs...yes there are some that point the finger at violence....unfortunately regardless of the type of music it is a part of the norm these days....I enjoyed your poem

    Thanks so much for your input brother. Of course I remember the Bogle Dance. I have such great memories of those times. I believe there's a time for everything, but sometimes, some of our cultural ambassadors let their imaginations run wild with the gang talk and many other areas that are not nice. I believe that even though we have freedom of expressions, we must not at times abuse it. Do not chant lyrics to make our women look cheap. Lets build them up, because they have done a great deal for us.

    In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite.
