I may never be a doctor,
    A lawyer or a judge.
There are mountains in this world
That I know I'll never budge.

I may not be what some might call
    Successful throughout life,
But I've been a loving mother
And I try hard to be a wife.

I might not feed the masses,
But I cook enough for three.
I try to do a lot each day
    Even if no one sees.

If life is just a race
Then I won't be in the lead.
But I've taught my little girl
How to spell and how to read.

I'd like to go to college
Though I'm not sure yet what for.
    A journalist?  A teacher?
I just crave to learn some more.

I may not have a corvette
But the Nissan's good on gas.
We may not have a zero turn
But our mower cuts the grass.

    Some people live on beaches
    But they have hurricanes.
I've got a swimming pool out back
And here it hasn't even rained.

There are people in this world
    Who have to do without
I try my best to help them
To calm their fears & doubts.

I might not be a wealthy woman,
But my life is richer every day.
    I've got love & I've got laughter
That no one can take away.

The next time you're feeling down
And you think that all is lost.
Just remember what you have in life
    Not how much things cost.

    Know that you are blessed
By God and those who love you
    You've got good luck indeed
    Because *someone's* thinking of you.

I am not "well to do"
    But we seldom do without.
    I'm learning as I go
    Just what life's all about.

As I lay down in my bed tonight
And it's nice & cool inside
I'll pray to God and thank Him
And I'll let him know I tried.

    I know who holds tomorrow
    Though the future is untold
But I'd rather have good memories
    Than diamonds, gems or gold.

    I am not a supermodel,
But I've learned to like myself.
I may be kind of odd at times
I don't want to be everyone else.

Life is so much harder now
Than it was when I was young
But I might as well enjoy it.
So I'll try hard to have fun.

If I never do get famous
    I won't mind at all.
I still have my friends and family
And the Lord to catch me when I fall.

    Things happen every day
    That I still don't understand.
But I love the life I'm living
And I'm happy where I am.

A poem begins as a lump in the throat, a sense of wrong, a homesickness, a lovesickness. It finds the thought and the thought finds the words.

    Robert Frost (1875-1963) American Poet.
