Conversations with Myself

Sometimes I need candy for the mind

Sometimes I need it to feel fine

Sometimes I need sweet and sugar

to reduce the bitter

of life's pickled brine

sometimes

Other times I need nothing but the air to breathe

and the earth beneath my feet

Other times I need just a warm bed, blanket and pillow

to rest and sleep

Other times all I need is water to drink and food to eat

other times

Anytime I need your adoration and glory

I need you to listen, to pay attention, think about and respect

my story

Anytime would be fine.

And so would some money. ;)

No time can you ask me to hurt,

Request me to work for another's pain.

No time can I be expected to hate,

Or be asked to wait on someones

death for personal gain.

no time

I like this poem...its a definite favorite..its so simply and it seems that you are as well. It flows effortlessly and I like the silly things you added in the poem it gives it a nice, innocent, humorous theme almost...I think I would have to disagree with some of the comments...I think this poem is perfect how it is and if this is how you wanted it then I don't think you should change a thing about it. Besides I give it a 10 so it couldn't be half as bad as they suggest it is...

I guess I don't quite agree with some of the other comments that I read here. I enjoyed the lines of this poem very much! Read through it a second time after browsing your comments and can only say that I don't understand the reason that there is any punctuation at all in this poem. The writing itself is brilliant, but the punctuation has to go! My opinion, I am in no way an expert on the subject just enjoy studying many different styles of writing in order to better myself. Great poem!

Not one of your best but I like it. We all get in sloppy slush sometimes and rush to share. Will wait for the rewrite.

I have enjoyed this poem. I, also need candy for my mind at times, money too :)) I like the message that you portrayed. God bless!

Poetry is what gets lost in translation.
