Poem Commentary

Love is the most important thing, dont get lost in the pragmatic and fall to hate.

© Zealous

Note the irony in it all
Loving Jesus , standing tall
in pride and arrogance you fall.

Condemn those who think
your beliefs are water in a sink
so start a war,  push to the brink.

Do you think the vision in his eyes
was for you to be pragmatic, to critisize?
guess youre in for a big  big suprise.

"Religion could be so glorious"
an expanded vision for all of us
"live and let live" , you have to trust.

The beauty  and perfection you steal
the light of love and the gift of freewill
is lost in  self rightousness and over zeal.

What good is love without  compassion?
the plan lost in prolonged procrastination
has hate become depeche, the latest fashion?

I enjoy the philosophy that shines through in your poetry, Insideme! Parallel with my line of thought!

In the feigned urgencies of the day, we often lose sight of the importance of humility and stillness. I thouroughly enjoyed reading this and have saved to favs!

The element of truth in this poem is clear- hypocrisy and overzealousness can cause people to look cold and heartless. I don't think it's intentional on many people's part. Sometimes they don't realize how they look to others

It doesnt just cause them to look cold and heartless, it causes them to be cold and heartless...one may love those in their sect or group but that isnt really His love....His love knows no denomination whether it be in religion or race. People are people and we are all worthy.

While this is a remarkable poem in itself, the true beauty of it is in the message it reiterates, throughout the entire piece! Excellent musings, my friend! It causes the reader to pause, and re-evaluate their own life, without resorting to preaching.

I think there is one element of truth still missing from this piece, Yes Christ loves everyone but In order to receieve the Truth and Wisdom He gives- one must come to him on His terms. It's not about denominations but about relationship according to His standards. We are not all worthy if we do not accept His standards.

Poetry is not an expression of the party line. It's that time of night, lying in bed, thinking what you really think, making the private world public, that's what the poet does.

Allen Ginsberg (1926-1997) U.S. poet.
