Poem Commentary

Is Religious Belief more important than people?

Crime and Belief

                     HAIKU
      We may never know
Why men prey on other men
    But we know the shame

                     * * *
Any Religion, or any people for that matter,
who thinks that their belief supersedes all
others to the point that they will destroy
the others - and who believes their death is
a greater death, if they die while blowing up
as many nonbelievers as possible - shows
not only immature reasoning - it is an
embarrassment to the human race.

Well said. It's a religion alright, I think we all know just who their god is. Nice job Stryx.

Poetry and philosophy - philosophy and poetry - they Are sometimes inseparable. At least I try to make them One. Thanks for the visit 2.'-)

Stryx. Love the haiku. Perhaps if we were called the human 5k jog for peace, or, the human 2 slow laps of the pool and then a martini, things might be different. Drew.

Perhaps, Drew - Perhaps.

Even as I was attempting humor, my head was gently shaking in denial. We've seen it for too long to believe in huge changes. Drew.

Change only happens in large pieces - it rarely happens slowly. Earth Quakes - tornadoes - death. Then people change!

Stryx, Your words ought to humble, but it seems amy cult hell bent on a mission whether it is an evil intent of massacre or a religious travesty, somehow there is validatuion in their eyes. ginga

You have said what we all feel in such a classic way . I thought that is why we came to Ameria to be free . I love this poem thanks Marie

Some in our own country think that freedom is to be able to suck freely from the government teat.It is not the country we were born into. Will we ever get it back? Enemies within and without.

Poetry is either something that lives like fire inside you or else it is nothing, an empty formalized bore around which pedants can endlessly drone their notes and explanations.
