Poem Commentary

This is a challenge poem for UPA. My way of expressing my views of the song "Lost in your eyes" by Debbie Gibson. Hope you enjoy it.

CROSSROADS

UPA Challenge poem/favorite song/Lost in your eyes

As I look into your eyes

I find myself being mesmerized

By the beauty contained within your eyes

As I gaze into your eyes they show me the way home

As I walk alone on an old dirt road

I close my eyes and see my past, present and future

To my surprise as I open my eyes

You stand before me and say to me

I am your future and I have come to thee

For you see me now only in your dreams

As you travel down that old dirt road

You will come to a crossroad where you must

Choose that which you can see

For it is very pleasing to the eye

But it will not lead you to me

Or you can follow your heart

So patient and kind

That one day soon

Our lives will be intertwined

Because of you

Others have a desire to share… the love and kindness

That they have received from you

You trust in what is good

You are devoted and true to your faith

You are steadfast and confident…

With an unwavering trust in your tomorrows

You help others to find the good in themselves

For this is how we shall meet

So I say thank you

For making me complete

I want you to know how very special you are to me

and how blessed I feel to have you in my life

From this day forward we will walk

Hand in Hand as Husband and Wife

And together we will cherish life

Sounds a bit prosaic, but contains some good lines which convey fervent and everlasting love very well. The cosmetics and the rhythm of this poem would improve considerably with punctuation. The :Crossroads" motif is fairly well maintained, but could be stronger. On the whole,a fervent and sincere profession of love. I enjoyed it. My rating is 8+

I really like this. So many roads we have to choose in our Life's Journey and we never know where they will lead we always hope it's to a happy end.

Thank you snowfire for your support. I hope I can continue to write poems that touch you.

Poetry is not a turning loose of emotion, but an escape from emotion.
